Common questions
The essentials in plain English.
How much will I earn?
You are paid per hour of usable footage that passes our quality check. The rate applies to a given mission and is shown on that mission page before you join it, together with the filming rules. Footage that is not accepted is not paid, and the quality standards are published in advance so you know exactly what to deliver.
What do I need to start?
A recent smartphone, GoPro, or smart glasses with good camera quality. If you film with a phone or action camera, you will also need a simple way to keep it hands-free and steady at head or chest height, such as a head strap or chest harness. Smart glasses need no mount. The contributor guide we send after signup covers the details. No prior experience needed.
Who sees my videos?
The EgoVista annotation pipeline, the technical providers that run it, and the robotics lab or company that licenses the dataset. Every provider is named, with its role and the place of processing, on our sub-processors page. Videos are never published publicly. Faces are automatically blurred before any external processing.
What if my clips aren’t selected?
Every submission goes through a quality check, typically within seven days. Accepted footage is credited to your balance straight away, and you request a payout whenever you want it; we execute within thirty days of your request. If a clip is not accepted we tell you why, and you can film and submit again. Clips that are not accepted are deleted after a short retention period and are never used in a dataset.
Is this legal? How am I paid?
You are not an employee and not a service provider. What you grant EgoVista is a licence over the footage you record, and what we pay is the consideration for that licence, calculated per hour of usable footage. Payment reaches you by whichever route is available to your country of residence. You are responsible for declaring this income under the rules of your own country; for contributors in France it usually falls under bénéfices non commerciaux, and the Contributor Terms set out the applicable regime and point to the official sources.
Can I stop anytime?
Yes. There’s no contract commitment. You accept or decline each mission individually. You can leave the network at any time by emailing us.
